The roots of the Stampede date back to 1886, when the Calgary and District Agricultural Society hosted the first fair. In 1912, the first rodeo and festival called the Stampede were organized by Guy Weadick, an American trick roper.
Seven years later, he returned to hold the Victory Stampedein honor of soldiers who were returning from the First World War. In 1923, his festival became an annual event, with the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede now enjoyed by many for nearly a century.
If you want to come and join us, you should plan your trips around it, with the next held from July 8 to July 17, 2022, as this festival is really one that’s not to be missed.
And, if you’ve recently purchased one of the Calgary homes for sale, you’ll be fortunate to have easy access every year. These are just a few of the reasons to put on those Wranglers, cowboy boots, and a hat, and go.
